30 before 30

When I was younger ’30’ seemed like a faraway concept where I would be an adult and competent, but it is coming up on me. When I was younger ’30’ seemed like a faraway concept, but I think the old saying ‘you overestimate what you can achieve in one year, and underestimate what you can do in ten’ is really true, and I want to make a list of all the things I would love to have achieved by the time I turn 30. I think age is a silly thing to limit your adventures on, but I think its a good motivator to force yourself to think about ‘today’ instead of an imaginary ‘tomorrow’.I am sure this list will change as I grow and experience new things, but as of now, these are things I aspire to achieve by the time I’m 30…

1) I want to travel to every continent

2) I want to have either own a house or be saving a deposit for a house

3) I want to own a dog

(not my dog but she is a blessing none the less)

4) I want to have run a marathon

5) I want to get to a point where I am bilingual

6) I want to have written a book and *potentially* gotten it published

7) I want to get my dive masters

8) I want to have read 100 books in one year

9) I want to be able to cook well and to enjoy cooking, and have a bunch of recipes that I can cook well

10) I would like to be financially stable

11) I would like to be contributing significantly to a charity

12) I want to see the Pyramids

13) I want to see Machu Picchu

14) I want to see the northern lights

15) I want to go to New York

16) I want to be in my dream job or at least working towards it

17) I want to have finished my master’s degree

18) I want to have an investment

19) I want to see the temple in Jordan

20) I want to live a mentally and physically healthy life

21) See the great wall of China

22) To have a Dita Von Teese level skin care routine.

23) Gain more technology skills, like programming…

24) Conquer my social anxiety

25) Visit Alaska and Canada and see the northern lights

26) Continue to be in a loving and stable relationship

27) Be able to invest in quality and reframe my mindset to have a healthy relationship with money

28) Hike the Inca Trail

28) Run a successful blog

29) Be in a space where I could potentially be starting a family

30) Swim with sharks

What do you want to achieve before your next milestone?

  1. It’s an ambitious list! Some would feel successful to have accomplished such a list in a lifetime. 😄 I am 54. My husband is in the process of retiring (he is 8 years older than me). So this transition is a good time to think about new goals.
    1. I have a new tax preparation business. I would like to grow it in the next 2-3 years, so that it is significantly contributing to our income.
    2. I want to commit to guitar practice and learn how to play 10 songs well.
    3. I would like to reach the point that my Etsy Shop supports my jewelry design hobby.

  2. I have lists like that. I go back and look at ones from different years, some decades ago, and find it interesting how they change. Some of the changes are because I did some of the things. Other changes happen because my desires change. Some things I did were never on a list and taking up dance at 40 (wasn’t on the list) has become one of my best surprises. Now I want to stay healthy because without that, most of the other stuff is much more challenging. So I was glad to see health on your list. And for me now, writing, which has been on the list for years (pretty dormant, other than my journal) has finally risen up. And taking up the piano ago.

    Enjoy your travels.

    1. Thank you for commenting! I think life is about the change and development and it’s so great to hear that you took up dance, prioritising health and writing sounds great, and piano is amazing! Thank you for reading 💕

  3. I love this! When I was younger I thought much the same. 30seemed far away and I didn’t work to many dreams I had. Now I look back and wish I had done more with my life. However I try not to linger on that for 35 is still young and there is still much I can do before 40, before 50 and so forth. Let’s take life by the reins and live it to the fullest while we still can!

  4. I love these! I just wrote a similar post that is going live in a few days!! I think my biggest goal before I turn 30 is to own a home, but travel is a big part of it too. These are great goals, especially being bilingual! What language do you want to learn?
