Hey Everyone! Today I am going to go through my lazy night routine with you, and this is for when I want to truly live up to that sloth life. I find that my evenings are really impacted by my day, so its really nice to have some time to relax and wind down before bed.
I am trying to create an evening routine that will help me to relax and chill out, and I think I have hit on the perfect routine for me. It’s not too regimented, and it’s got everything I need to relax after a big day.
Get into Nature
My boyfriend recently got an electric skateboard (its really cool!) and so when we get home, and the weather is nice, he wants to go out. It’s been a great excuse to go on a run in nature. There’s a beautiful walk near my house that has a great running path. Even though it’s only about a half an hour run, its so nice to get out in the breeze and sunshine after being cooped up in an office all day.
The first thing I do when I walk into the house is to get snug, which basically means my pyjamas and my dressing gown. I like some candles and my essential oil burner (I love the combination of lavender, peppermint and lemon) so that the house smells nice. I also rush around and do a quick clean of the house so its nice to wake up to in the morning.
I have been trying to minimise the amount of blue light (computers, phones emit this and it reminds the brain of morning, and it can mess up the hormones released in the brain) and light candles, my salt lamp and some fairy lights. It’s a nicer environment and helps me get in the bedtime mood.
When I have had a big day, I feel like it shows on my skin first, so if I have time, I love to do a face mask. I love sheet masks and mud masks. If I am feeling extra fancy, I will put a hair mask in as well. I will have a hot shower (I know it’s bad for my skin, but I love it), and I will usually bring my speaker into the bathroom and listen to Lana Del Rey.
My friend recently got me a tonne of sheet masks for Christmas and it has been amazing for my skin. I don’t know why wearing something that makes me look like Jason from the Friday the 13th movies makes me feel so fancy, but it really does.
I am not a great cook, but this year I am trying to be better, if I am being good, I will good something, right now I love cooking baked cauliflower and buddha bowls. However, if I am living my true sloth life, I will order in.
After we have cooked dinner, my boyfriend and I will usually cuddle up on the couch and watch some Netflix. Right now we are watching the Sabrina remake, and rewatching Brooklyn 99 for the fiftieth time.
After dinner, we will usually make some tea, and I will usually read my book. I love reading before bed because it helps me to relax and puts me in the mood for sleep. I have been trying to read a bit more lately, so my TBR pile is huge now, I am trying to read one fiction and one non fiction at the same time, and that has helped me keep a really good balance.
What do you like to do in your evening routine?
