Sydney Bucket List

I love Sydney, and I think it is one of the prettiest cities in the world. However, it’s also pretty expensive, According to The Telegraph, Sydney is the 10th most expensive city in the world for travellers!

However, this shouldn’t stop you from visiting, there are plenty of free, fun things to do in this amazing place.

Sydney Botanic Gardens

This might be the little plant hoarder in me coming out, but the Sydney Botanic Gardens is so pretty, they always have amazing exhibitions, that are totally free (though you should donate if you can). They currently have a carnivorous plants exhibition, and it’s fascinating, and it looks like the set of a horror movie in the best possible way. The volunteers are lovely and happy to answer questions. If you’re looking for a wholesome activity thats right on the harbour, you should check this out.

Bondi to Bronte Walk (or any beach walk really)

You can’t mention a Sydney Bucket List without mentioning the beach walks, because they are the reason you should move to Sydney because they are why Instagram was created. The Bondi to Bronte walk spans beautiful beaches, cliffside and even the coolest graveyard I have ever seen. It’s not too difficult, and when it’s bookended by two of the most famous beaches in Australia, it’s worth the public transport nightmare.

Go out for drinks

For those out of the loop, the Sydney ‘lock out laws’ decimated the Sydney nightlife scene, and what popped up in its place was 1920’s prohibition era hidden bars. The hidden bar renaissance is what we all dreamed of- and if you’re in Sydney-go on the hunt for it. But if you don’t want to go on a treasure hunt for your drink, places like lil Darlin in Surrey Hills, Corridor or Miss Peaches in Newtown, or Baxters in the city are fun and quirky places to find good alcohol and a cool atmosphere.

Glebe Markets:

If you like cheap second hand clothes, good food and quirky stalls, you will love Glebe Markets, it’s usually packed with hipsters, but that’s what makes it fun!
The stalls, usually put on by girls who are decluttering their (amazing) wardrobes, and its easy to find a bargain for relatively cheap. And there is always entertaining live music and great food!

The Sydney Museum

This might seem like a lame one, but the Sydney museum has some amazing exhibitions, including dinosaurs, ancient indigenous art and a Whale exhibition! The entry is a little pricy, but it’s worth it if you want to learn more about Sydney and Australia in general (and learn about Whales).

What are your favourite parts of your city?
